How it works now
Dealer Sales/F&I staff looks through the rolodex, finds phone number, calls Lender for payoff amount. If Lender has IVR system, input login data, type 17-digit VIN, plus 1-2 more fields of information. If no IVR system, payoffs only available at certain days/times.
What's wrong with that?
- All IVR systems are different, and many Lenders don't have one, which can delay deals — too much to manage!
- Some Lenders quote current payoff, some 3-day payoff, and some will offer the per-diem add-on but most do not — inconsistent data!
- Inconsistent data = Dealer Sales Manager has to over-allow to cover "payoff issues", which may cost car sales!
